Adult (18+) Krav Maga Classes
Krav Maga & Self-Defense for Adults
Our adult Krav Maga classes are suitable for men and women aged eighteen plus. We have separate Kis and Teens Krav Maga classes, which you can learn more about by clicking here. Unlike many martial arts schools we don’t mix these different age groups together, as the purpose of our classes is to teach those who attend reality-based self-defense. Different ages experience different realities e.g., younger kids usually have to deal with social aggression from other kids they know (often in groups), whilst adults are more likely to be targeted for violence by strangers, when in public places/spaces etc. Our adult Krav Maga classes taught at our studio (20 minutes north of Somerville, Massachusetts), are suitable for bot men and women, and don’t require any previous martial arts or self-defense training. To join the school, you will need to first take one of our beginners Krav Maga classes that can be accessed by clicking here. These classes will introduce you to the drills and training methods that we regularly use so you will be able to hit the ground running when you attend your first class. It also means that once a member you will never be training with complete beginners and explaining how to hold pads, play a role in a drill etc.
Unlike most Krav Maga classes that are taught in the U.S., all levels train together. Many other Krav Maga schools will have certain days and times when different levels can train e.g., beginners train 6:00 – 7:00 pm Mondays and Wednesdays, Level One 6:00 – 7:00 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays. This means that when you move up a grade/level/belt, you need to change the day and time you change. This can be difficult, especially when you’ve already worked out when you can train fitting in family activities and/or other social commitments. By having all levels train together, you don’t need to change the days and times when you train as you become more experienced etc. Training this way also means that when you start you will get to train with more experienced practitioners who will help you advance and progress faster. All of our members have benefited from this when they were beginners and are more than happy to help and assist new members with learning techniques, developing efficient footwork, and learning how to strike with power etc. Progression through the system uses a traditional colored belt system, with students progressing at their own individual rate.
Each of our classes lasts for 30 minutes. This allows for those attending evening classes to join two 30-minute classes together to get an hour’s training, so it’s possible for somebody to sign up for 6:00 – 6:30 pm and 6:30 – 7:00 pm, or 6:30 – 7:00 and 7:00 – 7:30 pm, depending on their schedule. It also provides an opportunity for those who want to do more training to do 90 minutes, by signing up for all three. You can check our Krav Maga class schedule by clicking here.
