Gershon Ben Keren
Gershon Ben Keren is a criminologist and security specialist/consultant who has been working in the security industry since 1990. He holds a master’s degree in criminology and criminal psychology, and another in psychology.
He has been training in Krav Maga since 1993, first in Israel and then in the UK. Training first as an instructor with the IKMF, under Eyal Yanilov (now Head Instructor of Krav Maga Global), Gershon has trained with many of Imi’s first generation of instructors including Miki Assulin, Avi Moyal, and Haim Gidon. He has also trained with Dennis, Yaron and Guy Hanover, and in 2010 was inducted into the Museum of Israeli Martial Arts in Herzliya, Israel. He has written three books on Krav Maga, published by Tuttle Press. All of the book’s photographs were shot in full color with techniques and solutions been demonstrated at full speed – not staged – in the locations where violence is likely to take place. He has also done two Google Author talks related to the books (the only author to have been asked back for a second appearance). His Krav Maga school/studio is located 20 minutes north of Somerville off of I-93 and I-95
As well as being a 5th Degree Black Belt in Krav Maga, he also holds a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Hisardut, and a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Judo (he has competed at both the regional and national level at Judo). He continues to train in other martial arts to both broaden his knowledge and to better understand the learning process(es) that are involved in learning techniques and developing new skills.
